Actually that's not quite fair! The writing just
feels a bit like a trudge. So what am I doing? I'm working through a long manuscript, but the revision seems to go
so slowly. Every single word or phrase needs thinking about, every scene has to be checked to see if it makes sense. In some ways it's a pleasure to be able to refine the story, and deal with any errors. On the other hand, I'm trying to get the thing finished as soon as possible. Oh grrrrrrr!
On the other hand, have had some nice times lately. Not only did I have an excellent few days in
Denbighshire (Hello to you all!) and fun telling "Strange Stories" at
RHS Harlow Carr, and organised a "Drumming for Dragons" event for our local Children's Book Group (Thank you,
Drums Agogo!) but tomorrow I'm off to meet everyone at
SELBY ABBEY Primary School.
So must stop trudging over the words, start checking the route (no satnav here) and packing my books - and getting an early night too!
I've been having a happy NATIONAL BOOK WEEK. Yesterday, I was lucky enough to visit a school quite near where I live, so no to early morning rising but yes to a pleasant drive and a very pleasant time at DARLEY PRIMARY SCHOOL in Nidderdale. Hello, all of you!
Today I've been visiting all the KS2 classes at SWAIN HOUSE PRIMARY SCHOOL in Bradford. Thank you for all your enthusiasm, and story ideas, and I hope that tomorrow's Dressing-Up-As-A-Book-Character is lots and lots of fun!
Now here comes a very big wave to the children at STRONG CLOSE NURSERY SCHOOL & CHILDREN'S CENTRE in Keighley. I've got some of my favourite stories to share with you at tomorrow's Official Opening celebration.
A quiet time this weekend, as I'll be busy revising my big story and trying to tidy my house for some lovely end-of -next-week guests.
This is because Monday will be very exciting day. I'll be driving across to DENBIGHSHIRE LIBRARIES in NORTH WALES. Hello to all the people I'll be meeting there, from BODNANT INFANTS, ST. ASAPH'S INFANTS, RHOS STREET SCHOOL, YSGOL DYFFRYN IAL, YSGOL CLOCAENOG, YSGOL RHEWL and YSGOL Y PARC too. I'm really looking forward to seeing you all next week, as well as all the librarians. Bye for now!
